Like millions of other website owners, we use Google Analytics to track website usage.
This works by sending you 'cookies' which are small text files placed on your computer to gather general information about your visit to our website.
The cookies also collect your IP address which determines where in the world you are visiting from.
This information is transmitted to and stored by Google who compiles it into reports viewable by us.
We do not retain any of this information ourselves.
According to Google they may also transfer this information to third parties where required by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf.
They also indicate that no information is collected that personally identifies an individual and they do not attempt to match any IP address to any other data that they might have, so that the information collected remains anonymous.
We are using Google Analytics to see how much of our website Vermonters use, with the intention of improving its usefulness for both current and prospective customers.
Opting out of cookies
Use of Google Analytics cookies is widespread and we consider them harmless (otherwise we wouldn't use them).
However if you would rather not receive them, there are two simple ways to avoid receiving cookies from our website and others.
First you can control how your web browser accepts cookies.
This varies by browser, so either refer to your browser's help section under 'cookies' or see this helpful site about how to control cookies on many different browsers: AboutCookies.org
You can also add a plugin to your web browser to opt out of all Google Analytics tracking software here: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
